Who will represent Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012? TRT has not yet decided the Turkish entrant but, one of the five artists on the shortlist has ruled herself out. Popular singer Şebnem Ferah and her press representative have announced that she is Pregnant and she cannot enter Eurovision this year.

TRT wants Eurovision back in İstanbul again, and therefore want an artist who is experienced and talented at the same time. This past week, TRT revealed their five name wishlist which included Atiye , Hande Yener , Şebnem Ferah , Murat Boz and Erhan Güleryüz.

Already, Hande Yener and her composer Sinan Akçıl publicly announced their song is ready for Eurovision and is entitled ”Love Contest”. The song talks about “wanting to win this Love Contest” and the composer Sinan Akçıl believes the song is stronger than his composition in 2009 for Turkey, Düm Tek Tek. However, the duo seem currently out of favour with the Turkish broadcaster Murat Boz has already ruled himself out from contention months ago when he said “I won’t go Eurovision this year” via social media websites.

After this, it is most likely that Atiye or Erhan Güleryüz will be the Turkish representative in 2012 if such an agreement is made. Last year the Turkish representatives, Yüksek Sadakat, were the 5th option for the Turkish broadcaster, like Erhan Güleryüz is this year, but however the local media seem to insist on Atiye being the Turkish representative in 2012.

We’ll hear soon from the Turkish broadcaster on their decision within the next two weeks.

Stay tuned!
