ERT, the Greek National Broadcaster, has just announced the participants of the Greek National Final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011.
ERT also announced the final will be taking place at the end of February and the winner will be decided by 50% jury vote and 50% televote. The decision behind ERT’s choice of contestants was to show new talents and give them a chance on Europe’s biggest stage.
The artists that will take part in the Greek National Final of 2011 are the following:
From SONY record company:
01. Kokkina Halia (band)
02. Valando Tryfonos
03. Nikki Ponte (X Factor 3)
From MINOS record company:
04. Antigoni Psychrami
05. Loukas Giorkas
From “7” EGE record company:
06. Trihmitonio (band)
From the list, there are three artists from the first season of X Factor Greece; Cypriot Loukas Giorkas (the winner), Greek rock group Kokkina Xalia (third place) and Cypriot band Triemitonio (fourth place).
Another Cypriot, Valando Tryfonos, will also take place in the National Final. She won last years Greek Idol and entered the Cypriot National Final back in 2006. Also in the lineup is Greek soloist Antigoni Psixrami, also a contestant from Greek Idol 2010, who is rumoured to enter with a song by Dimitri Kontopoulos (unconfirmed rumour). Completing the lineup is Greek/Canadian Nikki Ponte who is recently a contest on X Factor 3 in Greece.
