Estonia will take part in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm. Broadcaster ERR stated today that Eesti Laul will once again be their selection format, but that songs have to be submitted by November 2nd.
“We have deliberated long, and it seems reasonable to put the deadline before the Christmas period,” explained producer Mart Normet. “It provides an opportunity to be heard on the radio for a longer time, and provides additional time for both us and the artists to work on the staging.”
Eesti Laul 2016 will have its semifinals on February 13th and February 20th, with the final being held on March 5th. Impatient fans can already listen to the songs from November 5th onwards.
Elina Born & Stig Rästa won Eesti Laul 2015 and reached a 7th place in the Eurovision final for Estonia.
