The 37 Semi-Finalists for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 have been allocated into six pots, for the allocation draw next Monday. As ESC Daily could report earlier: This Semi-Final Allocation Draw, to determine which country will participate in which Semi-Final, will take place in Stockholm’s City Hall at 11:15 CET on Monday the 25th January.
The pots are based on historical voting patterns as calculated by the contest’s official televoting partner Digame. Drawing from different pots helps to increase suspense in the Semi-Finals. The countries in these pots can not all be in the same Semi-Final.
Australia has been placed in a pot together with Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Belgium and The Netherlands and thus can only be in a Semi-Final with two of these nations. Check out all pots below:
- F.Y.R. Macedonia
- Bosnia & Herzegovina
- The Netherlands
- Czech Republic
- San Marino
- Israel (pre-assigned to the second Semi-Final)
