Eurovision 2016 scheduled for 10, 12 and 14th of May

The preliminary dates for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 have been set during the Heads of Delegations meeting in Vienna. Host nation Austria has also drawn it’s starting spot for this year’s Grand Final. The Makemakers will perform as 14th.

During the Heads of Delegation Meetings all entries of all participating countries are officially handed over to the European Broadcasting Union. Almost are songs are available for public already. Only the song for Montenegro is still a secret. It will be revealed on the 21st of March.

The official Opening Reception with the traditional “Red Carpet Ceremony” will take place on Sunday May 17 at the Rathausplatz in Vienna. Eurovision Village will be situated just next to it, and it will open on Monday May 18. It has also been announced that, in the beginning of the Grand Final the competing artists will enter the arena via a “magic bridge” of light.

Another important event to take place was the Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group election. Aleksander Radic (RTVSLO, Slovenia), Emilie Sickinghe (AVROTROS, The Netherlands), and Nicola Caligiore (RAI, Italy) have been elected for the next two-year term.
