Eurovision 2017: Reference Group will meet in Kiev next month

In November the Reference Group, the governing body of the Eurovision Song Contest, will meet in Kiev to discuss the status of the preparations in Ukraine thus far. The question of ticket sales will also be discussed.

Executive Producer Jon Ola Sand is optimistic about the possibility of ticket sales before Christmas although he emphasised that there is still a lot to confirm before the sales process will begin. “Since it is not a ready concert hall or ready venue we need to have the stage design in place before we know what kind of tickets we can sell”.

But the ticket sales are not the only issue for the EBU and NTU at this moment. There is a tight schedule on security and infrastructure issues, and the venue of the International Exhibition Centre needs some severe improvements as well.

“We expect to get answers on a lot of questions,” says Sand. “Especially when it comes to the look and feel of the three shows, the event design, the timeline and progression when it comes to involvement of key personnel. We hope to start the ticket sales before Christmas, but may also be delayed until mid February.”
