According to ESCPortugal, program director Daniel Deusdado of host broadcaster RTP has confirmed that 43 countries are on the list to take part next May in the Eurovision Song Contest. Russia is about to return to the contest, after missing out in Kiev because of the Yulia Samoylova row.
Deusdado is being told to have confirmed this news on national television in the show A Voz do Cidadão. The European Broadcasting Union will publish the list of participating countries later, as we are still in the period of time where countries can withdraw from the contest without getting a fine.
Australia in Eurovision again
However, it seems very likely that the 42 countries of this year’s edition will stay in the contest. This is including our very own Australia. Russia is the 43rd nation to finalize the list.
