Finland: 540 entries submitted

[cft format=0]

Uuden Musiikin Kilpailun (UMK), or the New Music Competition, has received over 540 submissions this year and has exceeded all expectations of the directors.

YLE reports the demos entered cover a range of music genres which includes pop songs, traditional Finnish rock bands and Finnish metal bands. YLE also reports there has been some technical issues with the online system and has grated a 24 hour grace period for late submissions to UMK. Twelve lucky songs will make it to the next phase of the competition which will be cut in half to six grand finalists. These lucky six will be decided by a jury and will go on to perform in the National Final to be held February next year.

Stay tuned for more details on UMK!
