Finland: UMK to take place in Helsinki Ice Hall

The Finnish National Final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, “Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK)”, has been reported to be held at the Helsinki Ice Hall on the 25th of February, 2012.

The Helsinki Ice Hall will be the biggest Hall to host the Finnish National Final since 20 years. As OGAE Finland reports, the Helsinki Ice Hall has a capacity of 10,200 people.

It’s also been confirmed that YLE will present 40 to 50 songs online, which will be played on YLE Radio Suomi each Sunday in January. The songs will be narrowed down to 12 songs. After that a professional jury will choose only 6 songs to proceed to the national final, which will take place on the 25th of February, 2012.

The names of participants this year haven’t been revealed yet. But, as YLE reports several artists from the late 80’s like Anja Niksen, is looking to participate. Also artists like Martina Aitolehtio, Tauski and Teuvo Loman, have been rumoured to participate in the contest. Other names haven’t been revealed yet.
