Fireworks in second half of the Melodifestivalen 2018 final

Benjamin Ingrosso Melodifestivalen 2018

Will it be Mariette or Benjamin Ingrosso for Sweden in 2018? Or are we in for a big surprise? This Saturday, the 2018 Melodifestivalen Grand Final takes place with most of the favorites performing in the second half of the show.

Much has been said about the (lack of) quality of this Melodifestivalen season. However, the winner still awaits a top position in the betting charts. Sweden is always a force to be reckoned with.

Mariette vs Benjamin Ingrosso?

SVT announced the running order for the Grand Final in Stockholm during last week’s Andra Chansen. It immediately became clear that Christer Björkman attempts to save the best for last. The second half of the show is, more than ever, stuffed with favorites.

Samir & Viktor kick off the second half with their outsider song “Shuffla”. The song has a catchy dance tune, but unfortunately for the two Melodifestivalen veterans, the verses are too flat to make a lasting impression. Directly after Samir & Viktor comes Mariette, the betting offices’ favorite. Mariette previously finished 3rd in 2015 with “Don’t stop believing” and 4th last year with “A million years”.

Felix Sandman is the personal favorite of Allie Lindo, ESCDaily’s Melodifestivalen expert. He comes right after Mariette, and will be followed by Poland’s superstar Margaret (famous for the summer hit “Cool me down“). Both these two acts come from Andra Chansen, though, and they will need to up their popularity quite a lot to be able to fight for a top position.

Benjamin Ingrosso is the other absolute top favorite. He is in one-but-last position, which seems ideal for Sebastian Ingrosso’s younger cousin. Ingrosso has a pop dance song with nice moves and strong staging. However, vocal support could be a problem if he reaches the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon.
