Bruno Berberes, the French Head of Delegation for the Eurovision Song Contest has stated on live television that internal selections will be no longer permitted in 2013 for countries entering the Eurovision Song Contest.

The member of the EBU reference group made the revelation on Morandini, on Direct 8 and AB3, where he stated the new changes would permit countries entering the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 to shortlist at least two songs to be in the running for a national entry to the contest. Therefore, it should be noted that the artist can still be selected internally, but there must be a publicized choice behind the entry the entrant ends up performing at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Bruno Berberes added that 2012 will be the final year that France would pick an internal entry to the Eurovision Song Contest. The French entry will be revealed within a month’s time, either late December or early 2012.
