Germany: Big names on the list for national final

The candidates for the German national final have been revealed. Among the acts are a couple of big national names like Luxuslärm, The Voice-winner Jamie-Lee Kriewitz and Alex Diehl.

Luxuslärm is one of the biggest names in the German music industry. They got two massive hits in Germany with their songs ‘Unsterblich‘ and ‘Mehr Gewicht‘ in the past. Alex Diehl’s Eurovision song ‘Nur Ein Lied‘ (‘Just a song’) was composed right after the terrorist attacks in Paris, and got a lot of success on Social Media.

There is also an Australian connection to the German national final. Lead singer Kat from the band Keøma was born in Sidney; nowadays she lives in Berlin.

Here is the list of candidates in Germany for Unser Lied für Stockholm, which will be broadcast at 20:15 CET on the 25th of February from Cologne:

* Avantasia – Mystery Of A Blood Red Rose
* Alex Diehl – Nur ein Lied
* Ella Endlich – Adrenalin
* Gregorian – Masters Of Chant
* Jamie-Lee Kriewitz – Ghost
* Joco – Full Moon
* Keøma – Protected
* Laura Pinski – Under The Sun We Are One (song written by Ralph Siegel)
* Luxuslärm – Solange Liebe in mir wohnt
* Woods of Birnam – Lift Me Up (From The Underground)

Earlier in the season, Germany selected Xavier Naidoo as its Eurovision artist, but a few days later this decision was withdrawn. The withdrawal was a painful moment not only for Naidoo but also for broadcaster NDR, who had to come up with a new plan. With the big names that are now selected for the national final, NDR responds to the criticism uttered on its previous decisions.
