Malta: Glen Vella to Düsseldorf

27 year old Glen Vella will be representing Malta at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest with his song “One Life” composed by Paul Giordimaina and written by Fleur Balzan. He recieved maximum points from the televoting, and won the jury voting by two points. Below you can see the full results of the national final:

Glen is an established Maltese singer who also works as a voice coach outside of singing.

Glen is a regular participant on Maltese TV on various regular TV shows as a resident singer such as ‘Kalamita’, ‘Showtime’, ‘Sa 6’ and ‘Sibtijiet Flimkien’. His voice can also be heard on several Maltese radio and TV adverts and jingles. He has also played main roles in musicals in Malta such as “Abba Mania”. He is also one of the founders of the leading Maltsee Choir “Animae Gospel Chior”. All of the member are well known musicians and singers from Malta.

Glen has taken part in the Malta Eurovision selection almost every year since 2005 where he first took part with his song “Appreciate”. In 2009, with the group Q (created specially for Eurovision) he placed 3rd, 2nd last year with the song “Just a little more love” and now first with “One Life”. All of his songs have been written by Fleur Balzan and Paul Giordimaina. Glen has also taken part in Romanian “Golden Stag” festival in Romania, where he won a special jury award.

In the past two years, Glen has been nominated for “Best Male Artist” at the Malta Music Awards. Glen also traveled to Minsk, Belarus for Junior Eurovision 2010 as part of the Maltese delegation, since he is the vocal teacher for the Maltese participant – Nicole Azzopardi.

For the 2011 edition of Malta Song for Europe, Glen is joined on stage by dancers Simon Law (who won edition one of the show “Sfida”) and Sandro Zammit. On backing vocals are Angela Spiteri, and former Eurosong participants Pamela and Isabelle Zammit. Pamela also was a backingsinger for Malta at Eurovision 2010.
