Greece is back in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest. They did so by chosing a more mainstream song in 2019 than previous years. A deliberate choice by broadcaster ERT.

Usually we hear some traditional sounds in the song from Greece at Eurovision. In 2019, with ‘Better Love’ by Katerine Duska, broadcaster ERT went for a different approach.

Maria Koufopoulou, the Head of Delegation from Greece, explained their strategy to ESCDaily: “We would like to see other type of stage of music, just to see other musical styles. With Katerine, we wanted to explore a different area. We offered here the chance and she took it.”
