Greece: Song presentation of Argo’s ‘Utopian Land’

The Greek song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 has been unveiled by Greek broadcaster ERT. You can watch the song ‘Utopian Land‘ by the band Argo here!

Utopian Land‘ is a song in Greek, English and an dialect of Greek spoken in Northern Greece called Pontic Greek. It is focussing on the financial difficulties and the refugee crisis, and suggest we can overcome any and all challenges if we fight for their fictive “Utopian Land”.

The hip hop group Argo consists out of Christina Lachana, Maria Venetikidou, Vladimiros Sofianidis, Kostas Topouzis, Ilias Kesidis and Alekos Papadopoulos. Christina Lachana is the lead singer of the group, which performed under the stage name Europond in the recent past.

Greece has been drawn into the first half of the first semi final in Stockholm. It is one of the countries that has a 100% track record of qualifying through the semi finals.
