Host country The Netherlands will perform as 23rd in the running order of the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. This has been decided during the Heads of Delegation meeting in Rotterdam.
The meeting was held with not all the delegations present in The Netherlands, due to the spread of the coronavirus across Europe. The EBU is still confident that Eurovision will take place as planned, with the shows on the 12th, 14th and 16th of May. A Eurovision Song Contest without audience in not an option, according to Sietse Bakker.
“To be honest, Eurovision is a party for Rotterdam, The Netherlands and the entire continent. I can’t imagine it being held without an audience,” he states to Dutch broadcaster Rijnmond. Bakker says that they are thinking about all scenarios, including postponing the contest, but he is still hopeful it will all go as planned. “We still have two months to go, so we hope the situation will calm down. But we stay on top of the situation.”
