After five semi-finals and a grand final this Sunday, The Humans have won Selecția Națională 2018. With the song ‘Goodbye’ they will now go to the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 later this year.
It seems Romania saved the best until last tonight during the Romanian national final. Their new, longer selection format provided Eurovision fans with a lot of long shows which were sometimes difficult to follow. The Grand Final, however, delivered many quality songs and despite a one hour voting window was quite entertaining.
Surprisingly enough, big names such as MIHAI (who finished in 4th place in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006), and Xandra (whose song was written by Jonas Gladnikoff), did not reach the top three of the voting.
The Humans won the ticket to Lisbon via 100% televote. They proved a strong favourite from the beginning of the night and seemed set on winning tonight’s show. Their final performance, which you can watch below, was vocally much stronger than previous ones.
This is Romania’s Eurovision 2018 entry: The Humans – Goodbye
The song “Goodbye” is an interesting rock ballad in the style of The Cranberries. Romania therefore almost seems to pay a tribute to their recently diseased lead singer Dolores O’Riordan.
