Hungary: Updated participation list after two withdrawals

Hungary’s Eurovision preselection A Dal is off to a rocky start. In the past week, two of the thirty entries selected to take part were eliminated from the field and replaced by others. Check out the updated list in this article!

Jetlag withdrew his song “Keresem a bajt” due to scheduling issues, while the band Szabyest was disqualified due to his song being available to the public before 1 September 2016, which is against Eurovision rules. The replacing acts are Chase (Dust in the wind) and Rocktenors (Ösz).

Saturday January 14th marks the first of three A Dal quarter finals, in which per show ten songs will compete for six spots in the semies. It remains a surprise for now who will take part in which quarter final. This is the full list of participants:

Familiar names

In early December, ESC Daily already reported that András Kállay-Saunders would return to the Hungarian preselection. However, Kállay-Saunders is not the only familiar name in the list. Oláh Gergö, who reached the final four last year, returns as part of the group Roma Soul. Olivér Berkes & Andi Tóth reached the final of A Dal as a duet last year; this year, they take part separately.

Ádám Szabó, Mujahid Zoltán as well as boyband Spoon were all in the super final round in 2015, losing out to Boggie in the end. Gigi Radics was a fan favorite in 2014 but just missed out on a ticket for the grand final. Benji was a semi-finalist in last year’s edition.
