Today it has been confirmed to ESCDaily.com by Icelandic broadcaster RÚV that there will be a return of semifinals in Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2012!
After rumours began to circulate online that RÚV will be adding semifinals to their Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins selection, the Icelandic national broadcaster has now confirmed to ESCDaily.com that there will be a change for the 2012 procedure. Originally, RÚV announced there would just one final but now they have confirmed there will be three semifinals in 2012.
The semifinals have been set for broadcast on the 14th, 21st and 28th of January 2012 with 5 songs competing in each semifinal making a total of 15 semifinalists!
RÚV has also confirmed to us that a total of two songs will qualify from each semifinal to the final.
The final for Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins will be held February 11th where the finalists will compete to represent Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012.
