Iceland: Regína Ósk (2008) enters Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2012

Regína Ósk represented Iceland in Eurovision 2008 with Fridrik Omar under their collaboration Euroband with the song “This is my life”. In 2008, their performance led to the first time Iceland in the final of Eurovision after the competition was changed and only 25 songs could be performed during the Final.

Regina Osk has performed in Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins before her victory in 2008. In 2006 she entered and finished in second place. Now, in 2012, she will sing Mariu Bjork’s entry, who was one of the songwriters of  Yohanna´s song “Nótt” in last year’s competition.

The song that Regina will sing is called, in Icelandic “Hjartað brennur”, or in English “The heart burns” and the songwriters are; Maria Bjork, Marcus Frenell and Fredrik Randquist.

Maria Bjork says that Regína Ósk had been her first choice from the beginning, and that she is the perfect singer for the song. The song is up tempo.

Regina and Maria Bjork have extensive experience in music and are both looking forward to Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins. A total of 15 songs will be performd in Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2012, in January and February.
