Iceland’s Söngvakeppnin 2019 contains ten songs

Iceland will pick their song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 on the 2nd of March. Söngvakeppnin 2019 will contain ten songs, two less than in the previous years.

Before the final there will be two semi finals on the 9th and 16th of February. There is an open application for songs in Iceland until the 22nd of October. Icelandic broadcaster RÚV will also organize a ‘boot camp’ for composers, that might result in songs for the national selection.

RÚV is taking a small but different approach after missing out on the final of Eurovision in the last couple years, with the most recent final appearance in 2014.
