Azerbaijan: Ictimai received 60 songs

Ictimai, the Azeri national broadcaster has stated today that they received 60 entries for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011.

The Chief of public affairs department of Ictimai, Tahir Mammadov, said to Apa.az that this year, composers from  Turkey, Spain, Greece, Romania, Australia, Ireland, Sweden, The Netherlands and Norway, Portugal have submitted entries for Azerbaijan. After the 10th of February, the finalists will be officially known. Tahir Mammadov stated: “Irrespectively from the author, the best and most decent song will represent Azerbaijan in Düsseldorf”.

“Many foreign compositors present their songs to us. And of course it is connected with successes of our country. Performance of Azerbaijani representatives, organizing issues, promotion and PR activity of Azerbaijan in Eurovision song contests rouse interest of the world. They want Azerbaijan to present their songs. Foreign compositors wrote a lot of letters to ITV. They highly assess decent representation of Azerbaijan in this contest”, said Mammadov.

Ictimai TV have officially announced the date of the final for their Eurovision national final “Milli Secim Turu”. The show will take place on Friday, February 11th from the Azeri National academic drama theatre in Baku.
