Armenia: Internal selection in 2011

The Armenian national broadcaster of Eurovision, ARMTV, have announced that in 2011 they will return to internal selection.

The President of the Council of Public Television and Radio Company of Armenia, Alexan Harutyunyan, announced yesterday morning that “the national broadcaster will choose internally a performer, then we will announce a song competition to that performer”.

The last time Armenia chose internally was back in 2008, where they selected Sirusho. In the final, Sirusho finished in fourth place in Belgrade with ‘Qele Qele’, which has been Armenia’s best position in the contest so far.

Eva Rivas finished seventh in last month’s final with ‘Apricot Stone’.

The Public TV of Armenia is now preparing for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest which will take place in Minsk, Belarus in November. The national selection for JESC 2010 will take place in this August – stay tuned!
