A duet between singers Una Gibney and David Shannon will be one of the acts in Ireland’s “Eurosong 2012” national selection, the Irish Times reports. The newspaper states that this “double act” will be mentored by Julian Benson, a show business agent who has served on the RTÉ song selection jury for several national finals in the past. He has written the duet’s song himself, along with Éanán Patterson.
Una has been a singer in Michael Flatley’s stage show “Celtic Tiger”, touring for a year with the production. She also is part of a party band “Boogie Nights” for functions in Ireland. David is also a singer and actor, who has taken many lead roles in musicals in the West End, including the touring production of Les Misérables.
It is expected that RTÉ will announce the names of the finalists over this weekend. So far, it’s known that last year’s Eurovision representatives Jedward will return, mentored by Linda Martin; and that 2005 representative Donna McCaul will return with a Swedish-written song under the supervision of mentor Bill Hughes.
