Israel: Imri Ziv premiers ‘I Feel Alive’

Today Israel premiered its song for Kiev ‘I Feel Alive’ one day ahead of schedule. Imri Ziv won The Next Star, which is the search for Israel to find their next Eurovision entry. Listen to his song on ESC Daily!

Imri beat The Beatbox Element, Julietta and Diana Golbi to the title in Israel on the 13th February, and today on a special broadcast on Channel 1 in Israel, he premiered the song that he will sing in Kiev for the first time. Broadcaster IPBC announced towards the end of February that the title of his song would be ‘I Feel Alive’.

A youthful looking Imri Ziv embraces this look with an upbeat party song with oriental influences. Therefore it seems as though Israel goes along the lines of Nadav Guedj. Much like Nadav’s entry, this song has no lyrics in Hebrew. The video has had a lot of budget and effort put into it as well.

Israel in Eurovision

Since their debut in 1973, they have won the contest 3 times. These victories came in 1978, 1979, and 1998. The 2015 Israeli entry, Golden Boy by Nadav Guedj, was the first entry for Israel in the contest to have no lyrics in Hebrew. From 1973 until 2016, the host broadcaster in Israel was IBA (The Israel Broadcasting Authority). In 2016, The Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation took over, and they now broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest in Israel.
