Joci Pápai moves into A Dal Final as top favorite

Joci Pápai (ESC2017) has won the second semi final of A Dal. In the strongest of the two semi finals, Joci Pápai beat metal band Fatal Error, who qualified through televoting. Oláh Gergö was eliminated.

Joci Pápai, who came 7th in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest representing Hungary, won tonight’s semi final with an overwhelming 45 points. This now makes him top favorite to win the Grand Final next week as well. Szekér Gergö, whose song “Madár, repülj” is currently a big radio hit in Hungary, finished second tonight with 43 points.

Jury surprise: Bogi Nagy

The Hungarian jury always comes up with a surprise and this week was no different. Newcomer Bogi Nagy, a young girl with a solid voice and a simple ballad, received 42 points and qualified directly for the Grand Final. This meant that Oláh Gergö (runner-up in A Dal 2016) and metal band Fatal Error (who had won their quarter final) had to fight for one remaining televote ticket for the final.
