John Ola Sand the new Executive Supervisor

The Executive Producer of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, Jon Ola Sand, had been confirmed by the European Broadcasting Union as the new Executive Supervisor, replacing Svante Stockselius who steps down at the end of this year. Sand comes to the job with over 15 years of experience as park of NRK, for whom he was the Head of Delegation at Eurovision from 1998-2005.

Speaking on the new appointment Jørgen Franck, TV Director ad interim, at the EBU told the official Eurovision website: “I am confident that Jon Ola Sand will be a worthy successor of Svante Stockselius and that he will be just the capacity we need to continuously develop and enforce the values of the World’s biggest entertainment TV-show”.

For his part, John Ola Sand is excited about his new position. “I am really looking forward to working with the experienced and dedicated staff at the EBU. I see a lot of opportunities on top of the already existing expertise of the current team. I am excited about the prospect of taking on this unique opportunity. My previous experience at the contest will allow me to ‘hit the ground running’ when I take over in January.

The EBU has also appointed Sietse Bakker, formerly in charge of media relations for the contest, as ‘Event Supervisor’.

Jon Ola San will start his new job in January, by which time three songs for this years contest will have already been chosen!
