The line up for the first edition of the worldwide hit shot X-Factor in Malta has been announced. It does include some very familiar faces. PBS recently announced that the winner of X-Factor in Malta will represent the island at Eurovision in 2019.
X-Factor have been teasing fans for the past few days, and have now officially announced all 4 judges.
Howard Keith Debono
Howard is the producer at the leading music studios in Malta, Jagged House, and his studio represents some of the most famous Maltese artists that are known on the international scene. There is a connection between Howard and one fellow x factor judge.
Ray Merceria is the front man to Maltese band The Rifffs, which was represented by Jagged house, but it is unclear if they still are. They also recorded some their music there. His band specialises in Ska music, and influences include Madness, The Clash, Sex Pistols and The Specials.
Alexandra is a Maltese singer/songwriter who currently resides in Rotterdam. Her debut EP ‘The Curious Child’ was mostly self funded, and she was only 16 when she released it. It reached number 2 in the Maltese charts.
Ira Losco is a judge along with her manager Howard. They have been a partnership for around 14 years now. Ira has twice represented Malta at Eurovision. In 2002 she came runner up singing 7th Wonder, and in 2016 she placed 12th singing Walk on Water. This year Ira is celebrating her 15th year in music and has released a double album titled ‘No Sinner, No Saint’ to celebrate this milestone.
Ben Camile will be hosting X-Factor Malta. He is known in the Eurovision community for presenting previous editions of the Malta Eurovision song contest and for co-presenting The Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2016.
