Cyprus has its Junior Song for Malta 2016. Earlier Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) had announced that 13-year-old George Michaelides will represent Cyprus with the song “Dance Floor” on 20 November in Valletta. A few hours ago the song itself was released along with the official video clip.
The composer of the song is Andreas Anastasiou and the director of the video clip is Maria Harris. George Michaelides was selected among 6 other entries through a 5-member jury panel. The jury consisted of Lia Kasiou, Spyros Spyrou, Florentios Tsoukas, Salomi Chatzineofytou and Stéfanos Charalámpous.
Cyprus returns to the contest after a year of absence. In 2015 the country was last represented by Sophia Patsalides who finished in 9th place with her song “I pio omorfi mera”.
