Junior Eurovision: Italy closes the show right after Australia

Australia will have the 15th starting position in the Junior Eurovision show on Sunday. This is the result of the running order draw tonight in Tbilisi. Italy closes the show, while Cyprus opens.

Check out the full draw:

  1. Cyprus
  2. Poland
  3. The Netherlands
  4. Armenia
  5. Belarus
  6. Portugal
  7. Ireland
  8. FYR Macedonia
  9. Georgia
  10. Albania
  11. Ukraine
  12. Malta
  13. Russia
  14. Serbia
  15. Australia
  16. Italy

The draw to determine which songs will be performed first and last in the show, and the starting position for the host country took place during the Opening Ceremony of the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

In a rather complicated procedure, Georgia first drew its starting position. Grigol expressed his eagerness to perform last, then took out a number he thought was 6 – but the presenter corrected him and showed it was in fact number 9. Grigol sighed in relief: “At least that’s better than 6”.

Australia takes an empty box

The other countries came to the front one by one to draw a box. Out of 15 boxes, 13 were empty. The other two contained either position 1 or position 16. Cyprus took the starting slot, Isabella from Australia took an empty box, and Maria from Italy took the closing slot.

As is customary, the producers of the show decided the rest of the running order for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in order to showcase the different styles of music.
