The national broadcaster of San Marino, SMTV, has withdrawn from the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2011 that will take place in Yerevan.

This was meant to be the debut of the tiny country in the Junior Eurovision but unfortunately the plans were cancelled. Finally, a total of 13 countries will take part in the contest with only Sweden being the last country to choose its entrant. The contest will be held on December 3rd. Alessandro Capiccioni, the Head of San Marinese delegation, said to ESCDaily.com and Luke Giles,

In June SMtv has started a new satellite channel. In this phase we are engaged in many different projects and issues. Unfortunately, we must skip the JESC participation this year but we’ll pour all our energies in the next Eurovision Song Contest. Nevertheless, we truly hope to take part in 2012 JESC edition.
