Kate Miller-Heidke: “Australia should stick with a national final”

Kate Miller-Heidke interview

If the decision were up to Kate Miller-Heidke, Australia would keep selecting its Eurovision entries through a national final. The current Australian representative tips Empire of the Sun, Troye Sivan and Electric Fields as potential candidates.

“Australia Decides got the public really invested,” says Kate. “Eurovision is already really popular in Australia, but even more now that the decision was in the hands of the people.”

Australia stays in Eurovision for at least 5 more years

The fact that Australia received a more permanent visa for Eurovision, takes some pressure off Kate’s participation this year. Yet she says: “It still feels quite high pressure. This is the first time Australia has held a national selection and they chose me. So one pressure was replaced by another.”
