Kiev 2017: Host broadcaster says they are “fully on schedule”

Host broadcaster UA:PBC has held a press conference, following the events of Monday, when several key members of the Eurovision 2017 organization decided to resign from their position. According to the Deputy General Director of the Ukrainian broadcaster, there is no delay. “The preparations for Kiev 2017 are still fully on schedule”.

Mister Pavlo Hrystak says: “I want to thank the whole team that has worked on the organization of the contest, and which still continues to operate. (…) There is not a single person who has left the project from those directly involved in the show production and work on the Arena. We have discussed all the details with the EBU and at the moment we are completely, fully on schedule. We will do everything possible to organize the contest at the highest level.”

Romanova resigns

Earlier today, Executive Producer Victoria Romanova and others resigned. Romanova stated there has been almost no progress in the preparations of the contest since December. However, later this afternoon the EBU suddenly confirmed the first tickets for the shows in May will go on sale on the 14th of February.

Ola Melzig, Head of Production said at the press conference. “There is no secret we are running a bit late in this production, but I am confident in my team of international experts. They know what to do, how to prepare and to execute it. We are making a good progress and I am pretty sure we will succeed and develop an amazing show.”

For the translation of the press conference we would like to thank the team of ESCKAZ. Their full article can be found here.
