Ukraine: Kristall picked for Yerevan

Ukraine last night became the third country to pick their entry for the 2011 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, selecting Kristall with the song “Evropa”. Kristall, whose real name is Kristina Kochegarova, won by five points of the second placed contestant Victoriya Kobzar.

Aged 11, and a product of the Zirkovy Schlyah production house, the Kiev-born singer won from position five in the running order despite being ill in the week leading up to the show. THe national final itself started with a moment’s silence for the victims of a mining disaster in Ukraine. You can hear the winning song below:
