Latvia: Supernova final on February 28th

Latvian public broadcaster LTV has announced details about Supernova 2016, their national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Singers and songwriters, who must be Latvian citizens, can submit their songs until November 1st. The final will be held on February 28th.

As we stated before: Just like this year, the Latvian representative for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest will again be selected in the Supernova series of shows, broadcast live on Sundays in February. A professional jury will first choose 20 participants and work with them from December 1st till the end of January, but all names will be kept secret.

In the end of January on Sundays two documentaries about the preparations will be shown. Live shows will be aired during all February on Sundays, with the final taking place on February 28th. The decision on the winner will be jointly taken by a jury and televoting.

In 2015 Latvia was represented by Aminata, who came sixth in the Grand Final with ‘Love Injected’. It was the best placing for Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest since Walter & Kazha’s fifth place in the Grand Final in 2005.
