Lindita Halimi has won the 55th edition of the prestigious Festivali i Këngës in Albania. And with that victory, she has received a ticket for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev.
If Lindita will perform the winning song ‘Botë’ at Eurovision remains to be seen. In recent years, the winners from Festivali i Këngës gave their song either a huge revamp and language translation, or even changed their song completely.
You can rewatch the winning performance by Lindita below. Or check out the liveblog we have made during the final in Albania. And of course, tell us what you think of the Albanian song as well.
50/50 track record
Albania has a shaky qualifying track record at the Eurovision Song Contest, reaching the final only 7 out of 12 attempts. In the last four years, the country made it to the final just once. The 2016 edition in Stockholm also ended in a deception for Eneda Tarifa, who failed to qualify for Albania with her song “Fairytale”. She finished in 16th place in the second semi final, scoring only 45 points.
