Lithuania: Monika Liu to Turin with ‘Sentimentai’

The Lithuanian national selection is complete, with Monika Liu winning the ticket to Eurovision. A total of 8 acts competed, with voting split between jury and televoting.

After three heats and two semi-finals, Pabandom iš naujo is now complete. The following eight acts competed, and they are as follows:

  • Lolita Zero – Not Your Mother
  • Ieva Zasimauskaitė – I’ll Be There
  • Rūta Loop – Call Me from the Cold
  • Gebrasy – Into Your Arms
  • Justė Kraujelytė – How To Get My Life Back
  • Queens of Roses – Washing Machine
  • Monika Liu – Sentimentai
  • Augustė Vedrickaitė – Before You’re 6ft Under

The jury favoured Monika Liu by a significant margin, equating to the maximum 12 points. Augustė Vedrickaitė finished in second place with the jury, while Lolita Zero finished in third with the jury.

The televote revealed similar results, with Monika Liu receiving 23,604 votes from the public. This equated to another 12 points. Lolita Zero received 20,929 votes, therefore receiving 10 points. Augustė Vedrickaitė rounded out the top three with the public vote, receiving 4147 votes.

With the points combined, Monika Liu achieved the maximum score of 24 points. Augustė Vedrickaitė and Lolita Zero both finished with 18 points.

This is the first time in over 20 years that Lithuania is represented by a song in the Lithuanian language. In 1994, Ovidijus Vyšniauskas performed in Lithuanian, and in 1999, Aistė performed in Samogitian, an Eastern Baltic language.
