Ladies and gentlemen, good evening from ”Friends Arena”! Welcome to our live reporting for the final of Melodifestivalen 2014! I am Christos Zervas and together we will follow all the developments inside AIK’s Solna stadium.

 ___________________________________________

And we are LIVE!! Welcome to MelodiFestivalen Finale 2014!

___________________________________________

The opening act is performed by Charlotte Perelli! Winner of Eurovision 1999 for Sweden, singing… what else? ”Wonderful Copenhagen”. The home of Eurovision Song Contest 2014! Dressed as the famous ”Little mermaid” sculpture, Charlotte kicked the ball.

Now is time for the artist’s presentation. Friends Arena is full of cheering spectators and the atmosphere is in the utmost of high spirits!

And now it’s time for our ptresenters to welcome us to the biggest show of all Scandinavia.

After the description of the voting procedure is time to get in full swing!

1. Anton EwaldNatural

In high gears from last year, Anton would like to win, as it is something… ”Natural!” The song is better than his last year’s entry. Better rhythm, beat near to a mild dubstep song and a nice choreography. He seems confident on the stage while sparkling in his shiny jacket. Very promising start for tonight!

2. Ellen BenediktsonSongbird

Songbird is a song that you either hate or adore. With a country guitar melody, Ellen got straight to this final as a huge surprise. We have no doubts about her vocals, but for the song which is very flat. Many probably already compare her with Anouk…

3. AlcazarBlame It On The Disco

The most experienced artists of the night. Already being 3 times in the final, Alcazar kind of adapted their 2008 entry ”Stay the night” in a new revamped 2014 Electro-Disco edition! They set a huge party on stage with all the elements that a pure Disco song requests for! Top 3 again… probably???

4. Oscar ZiaYes We Can

Oscar Zia would probably deserve a place in the world famous boy band ”One Direction”. His appeal to the youth of the stadium is tremendous! This is a pure modern pop song. His vocals are good but the stage performance is even brighter with the gimmick of the Television. Do you think he can win?

5. Linus SvenningBröder

This is one out of the 4 songs written from Fredrick Kempe tonight. What an achievement! Linus is singing for the touching story of his dead brother. Another singer with good vocals and actually this is our first song in Swedish tonight. The surrounding fits to the touching message of the song but the singer himslf seems that he can not easily hide his happiness for competing tonight. Bizzare result, a little bit bitter sweet taste…

6. Helena PaparizouSurvivor

The winner of Eurovision 2005 for Greece, stated to our interview that she really wants to win tonight! The song is itself strong enough but her total appearance sets her as a very big winning candidate. Her vocals are perfect and as she carried on with the song, we were able to understand how much determined is she towards her target.

7. YOHIOTo the End

The most colourful, the most glittery, the most sparkling entry is here! Too much flames, too much fireworks and too much special efects. Somehow all these make you cope only with his image and not the song. This worse entry than ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ won’t take him until the end…

8. Sanna NielsenUndo

The young and very experienced singer which seems way older than her real age. A hot favorite tonight that is obvious even from the crowd’s reaction. A unique ballad which starts as a piano resital and ends like a love ballad of Scorpions. In the meanwhile the drumbeat that was added is influensed from dubstep music – which starts to become very popular – and creates an interesting sound that although can have many interpretations… Hmmm

9. PanetozEfter solsken

Let’s travel for 3 min. to Carribean Sea! I have a difficulty in categorizing this song. Maybe rythmic reggae? No matter what; it is difficult to get used to this sound with Swedish language. Full of enerrgy, funny and totaly relaxed, they sing and I really believe that what does matter is the patricipation. Thank you Panetoz for bringing summer into our winter surroundings. We blame it to the weatherman!

10. Ace WilderBusy Doin’ Nothin’

This is the entry that the two favorite ladies of the night are afraid of. Being in the profitable last place of presentation, i am sure that will turn out to be a clear successful night! She is 31 yerars old. Can you believe that? She wears a t-shirt with number 7 and not 10. Strange, but this is the absolute national anthem of being in holidays! Vocally perfect and with a clever stage performance. I bet it will be a huge radio hit!

______________________________________

These were the 10 songs for tonight. So, is time for our first re-cap.

Listening now to this summary, anyone is able to understand that this is a more difficult and way better final than last’s year. We are very glad about it!

Now sit back, relax and enjoy the ride throughout many lovely tunes of ABBA! It is all about Sweden, anyway!

  1. ”Tusen takk og ha det bra” is Norwegian. In Swedish it would be: ”Tusen tack och ha det bra!”.
