Second semifinal night on 53rd Albanian Festivali i Këngës (Festival of Song) will be opened with the song “Mendje trazi” performed by Josefina Simon while the end of the competition part is reserved for Gjergj Leka’s song “Hymn”. Thirteen new tracks will be presented, and as in the first semifinal night, nine songs will be chosen for finale. In the next couple of hours we’ll know the names of all eighteen songs for tomorrows finale.
Show starts at 20:45 CET, and you can watch stream on the official website of Radio Televizioni Shqiptar here.
After two hours of great music and performers, hosts read names of nine artist qualified to the final night as following: Josefina Simona, Altin Goci, Bojken Lako Band, Rezarta Smaja, Emi Bogdo, Gjergj Leka, Elhaida Dani, Mjellma Berisha and Agim Poshka.
After witnessing greatness of tonight’s artists, I only can add that I’m very excited to watch final night tommorow.
22:55 – While the presenters is still talking with the guest singer, unfortunately I don’t understand Albanian, so I can’t follow them, but as it seems they are honoring a singer, while his photo is showing on large screen. We’re still waiting the results for nine semifinalist entering the final night.
22:38 -While we’re waiting for jury to decide tonight’s winner, unofficial part of the Festival has began, with a female singer, entertaining the audience.
Song 13 – Gjergj Leka – Hymn
22:29 – Last song for tonight’s semifinal is performed by Gjergj Leka, and followed with orchestra and with the chello on thr stage. The name of song is Anthem, and as it seems by performance and the emotions that artists is showing on stage, the song is followed with strong patriotic feelings and nostalgic voice.
Song 12 – Xhejn & Enxhi Kumrija – Njeri
22:22 – First duo for tonight, Xhejin and Enxhi performed song Njeri. I may be wrong, but it seems two of them are also the youngest performers tonight. As Albanians taught as so far, this song is also great one (jury will have full hands of work tonight), mildly fast ballad.
Song 11 – Agim Poshka – Në rrugën tonë
22:15 – Agim Poshka song has started with recitation, performed by a man drinking wine (?). But Agim’s part was ballad made from the original recipe: lots of emotions, tearful voice, look into the distance, and back female voices.
Song 10 – Emi Bogdo – Një femër
22:10 Emi Bogdo has presented herself with opera like pop rock song, lots of high vocals and instrumental support. Once more, with tenth song so far, I’m establishing that Albania has remarkable taste in music and clothes: they prefer rock and black, mine kind of things.
S0ng 9 – Mjellma Berisha – Sot jetoj
22:00 – If I could understand the lyrics of this song, I would be pretty much sure that this one is my favorite so far. The singer, very attractive and with great Victorian outfit, performed song named Sot jetoj, in a pretty impressive manner. Even though she was alone on the stage (as every other performer tonight), she has filled it with the great energy. As far as the song concerned, well it could be described as one of the songs from Evanesence for example: high womanly voice, strong instruments, but yet, in some parts, very peaceful and graceful.
Song 8 – Ana Gramo – Në koma
21:54 – The eight song is brought to us by Ana Gramo, girl in a leather jacket, and strong, impressive voice. Parts of ballad, and parts of pop rock, mixed with violins and guitar, song Ne koma is really nicely performed, but somehow it sounds familiar, like many others songs we hear every day.
Song 7 – Grupi Aurora – Maria
21:51 – Song called Maria, is the first one tonight with traditional Albanian sound. Performed by the Grupi Aurora and supported by the back singers, song is leading us into Albanian areas and brings to us the melody of this lovely country.
Song 6 – Rezarta Smaja – Më rrëmbe
21:45 – Large white dress, lots of violins and great confidence at the stage, were the main points of the sixth performer, Rezarta Smaja, along with a lot fast to slow switches and special instruments. The song is catchy and quite well performed.
Song 5 – Kelly – Nëse ti do
21:37 – After the peaceful ballad, once again we’re witnessing energetic pop rock song (in black outfit of course). Apart from being described as pop rock, this song can also fit into the sound of Balkans pop songs: mix of poverfull guitar and nostalgic male voice, calling you from stage.
Song 4 – Elhaida Dani – Të kërkoj
21:31 – Fourth song, ballad called Të kërkoj, has totally proved us that in order to feel true emotions, you don’t have to understand the language. Elhaida Dani, girl with Celin Dion kind of voice, and performance, if I may add, was pretty amazing and filled with some kind of sad emotions.
Song 3 – Bojken Lako – Të ndjej
21:23 – Well, could you imagine my surprise: black again (not that I mind, quite the opposite). Apart form great style, tonight’s artists could be also proud with their great performances. It’s not often that on this kind of festivals we hear three songs in a row in a pop rock genre. And this third one, was really powerful, and has gained huge support form the audience. Mix of Muse and Placebo, the author of this blog would called song Të ndjej.
Song 2 – Altin Goci – Rock për gjithë jetën
21:19 – As it seems, black outfit is all over this second semifinal night. After Josefina, Altin has appeared on stage, also wearing black and performing pop rock song, with the sound of 80’s, called Rock Today. Lot of guitar solo, and great energy, could be use to describe this song.
Song 1 – Josefina Simon – Mendje trazi
21:16 – Josefina Simon opened the second semifinal night with a song Mendje trazi. Performed live and with a calm but very effective attitude, this girl with a very strong voice, has won the sympathy form audiece. Mendje trazi is a slow, powerful song with a lot high vocals, calling you to express your emotions while you’re listening to it.
21:06 – After short commercial break, Turjan Hyska is presenting live orchestra, and Liberta Spahiu, co – host is joining the stage. This lovable couple is trying to entertain audience by dancing, something that appears as tango. Also, they’ve presented seven members of jury, made by former Eurovision Song Contest performer, and other respectable Albanian artists.
20:55 – And the 53rd Festival of Song has started. For the first appearance on the grandiose stage, we’re watching one of the hosts, Turjan Hyska, with a man who’s playing a guitar.
