The final of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2015 took place this evening and the winner has been decided and it will be Amber with the song “Warrior” that will represent Malta in Vienna next May. After an incredible show, Amber received maximum 12 points from every jury in the competition; a clean sweep.
The competition was hosted on the same stage which also played host to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest last Saturday night and 14 acts took part in the grand final of the competition. Tonight’s result was decided by 5 Jury members who each gave 1-8 points and then 10 and 12 for their favourite songs, the traditional Eurovision style. The final set of points came from the televoting public who also gave the same points as the jury members. It was a runaway victory for Amber who received 12 points from every single jury in the competition. In second place was Christabelle with the song “Rush” and third place was Malta’s 2011 Eurovision representative Glen Vella with the song “Breakaway”.
During the show we saw performances by Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst as well as last year’s Maltese Eurovision entry Firelight. We were also treated to a repeat performance of the interval acts from the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 during the interval. Amber will now join Daniel Kajmakoski, Trijntje Oosterhuis, Loic Nottet and Knez as the first known participants for Eurovision 2015 in Vienna next May. You can listen to the song here.
