Swedish broadcaster SVT has released the schedule for Melodifestivalen 2019. With that, the dates and host cities for the biggest Eurovision preselection show in the season are known.
Melodifestivalen 2019 will start with the first semi final in Göteborg on the 2nd of February, and conclude with the grand final in Stockholm on the 9th of March. Full schedule below:
2nd of February, Deltävling 1 – Göteborg
9th of February, Deltävling 2 – Malmö
16th of February, Deltävling 3 – Leksand
23rd of February, Deltävling 4 – Lidköping
2nd of March, Andra Chansen – Nyköping
9th of March, Final – Stockholm
Only act for Melodifestivalen 2019 known so far
Applications for Melodifestivalen 2019 will close on the 17th of September 2018. Expectations are that the 28 competing act will be announced in November. The Lovers of Valdaro are the first confirmed act for Melodifestivalen 2019. The group was chosen out of the participating acts in the talent show P4 Nästa.
Broadcaster SVT selects 14 acts for Melodifestivalen 2019 themselves, The Lovers of Valdaro being the first. The other 14 spots will be filled by a special jury.
