The sand artist that Moldova will use in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 is Kseniya Simonova, the woman who also performed with Mika Newton in 2011. Simonova confirmed this to Team ESCDaily in Tel Aviv. Back then, the Ukranian entry finished in 4th place in the Grand Final.
At the first rehearsal of Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, Anna Odobescu was joined on stage by a sand artist to help her tell the moving story of her entry. Many people drew comparisons to Mika Newton’s performance from 8 years ago; after all, she also used a sand artist. However, nobody seemed to realize that it may be the exact same person.
With help from our Icelandic colleagues, ESCDaily started looking into it. And we can confirm: the Moldovan sand artist is in fact Kseniya Simonova. She is the same sand artist that joined Mika Newton for her act on behalf of Ukraine in 2011.
Kseniya Simonova also confirmed that she is participating at Eurovision again on her Instagram account:
