
Moldova’s national final took place Saturday night, in order to select the 16th Moldovan representative to go to Eurovision 2020 in Rotterdam. Natalia Gordienko (ESC 2006) was chosen by a combination of a public vote alongside a professional jury. Natalia beat Pasha Parfeni (ESC 2012) and will sing “Prison” in The Netherlands.
Natalia was born in the Moldovan capital, Chișinău but has Ukrainian descent. She previously represented Moldova with the song “Loca” alongside Arsenium and Connect-R at Eurovision 2006 placing 20th.
Her new Eurovision song is written by Eurovision song-writing veterans, Dimitris Kontopoulos, Philipp Kirkorovand Sharon Vaughn who have entered numerous Eurovision-representing entries individually including:

O melodie pentru Europa 2020 was the name of the national final format developed by TRM in order to select Moldova’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020.

Twenty songs were meant to compete however Geta Burlacu was meant to compete however dropped out the morning of the final due to “personal reasons”. Moldovan broadcaster TRM didn’t have the ability to replace the show due to time constraints hence nineteen songs competed in the final instead.
