The United States of America will get their own Eurovision format. Broadcaster NBC will organize “the American Song Contest” in 2022, with all 50 states taking part + 5 US territories.

The show will feature live performances. EBU says: “An incredible solo artist, duo, DJ or a band will represent each location performing an original song, celebrating the different styles and genres across America.”

The competition will consist out of of three rounds. First the Qualifying Rounds, followed by Semi-Finals. In the ultimate Grand Final, one state or territory will emerge victorious. As in Eurovision, televoters and jury voting will determine the final result together.

  1. One of the best things about Eurovision is that it airs commercial free. Hard to imagine any tv station in America airing anything without commercial breaks, especially not NBC. I’m looking forward to it but I’m skeptical.
