“Why change a winning team?”- The words of Stefan Raab in the winner’s press conference after this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. As was previously reported, the ‘winning team’ of NDR and Pro7 will once again be teaming up to pick the German entry as they look to defend their title on home soil. Lena will sing a total of six songs in each of the two semifinals that Pro7 and ARD will broadcast (one per channel), with three from each going forward to the final on NDR ‘Das Erste’ on Friday 18th February.
However, today it has been revealed that the show will be called ‘Unser Song Für Deutschland’, and will follow the same format as last year in that composers will be invited to send in compositions. A jury, headed by Stefan Raab, will then decide on the twelve songs that will be sung in the lives shows.
A total of 14.69 million people tuned in to watch Lena win the contest last May, the biggest audience for Eurovision in Germany for almost 30 years.
