New format in Switzerland for Eurovision 2019

Switzerland will pick their act for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 through an internal selection. The Swiss broadcasters decided to go for a new strategy, due to the bad results in recent years at the biggest music competition in the world.

Switzerland has failed to reach the final of Eurovision since 2014, when Sebalter was the last artist to do so. In 2019 they will use a format with Swiss and foreign jurors. In September musicians can send in their potential Eurovision songs and their compositions will be judged by both a panel from viewers and public as an international jurors.

The two juries will each have a 50% say in the Swiss entry for Israel. The Swiss broadcasters SRF, RSI, RTS and RTR still have the ability to add wildcard entries to the selection.
