Next up: 2021 – Austria

He was the intended artist for Eurovision 2020, and broadcaster ORF announced that Vincent Bueno will also sing for Austria at the contest in 2021. But, there is still a lot of work to be done.

In today’s episode we look at Austria in 2021. For a full review of their potential entry for 2020, check out this article on our partner website Eurovision Union. Check out our thoughts for next year below.

Key takeaways: enthusiasm and long preparation time

Austria seemed to be middle ground with fans, and although it may not have been a convincing qualifier, there surely is some potential for Vicent Bueno at Eurovision. In ‘Alive’ we could hear that he has vocal quality, though we have to wait and listen if he can pull it off while dancing and moving around on stage. But, his enthusiasm and eagerness to take the Eurovision stage, is promising.

The song lacked something that makes it interesting enough to keep the audience hooked for the full three minutes. That is of course something that can be improved in 2021. Whether Vincent Bueno will also develop himself in the right way will be known when the rehearsals start next year.

How should Austria proceed with Vincent Bueno in Eurovision 2021?

Vincent Bueno is another artist that was chosen internally and already got offered their chance to represent their nation after all. It’s interesting to find out what they will come up with next. ‘Alive’ was not predicted to have a good result in Rotterdam, so perhaps the Austrian delegation learns from that and comes up with a song in a different genre. It is hard to judge if Vincent is able to do more than just the genre he is most familiar with.

With a strong songwriting team, we could see something special from Austria next year, perhaps something that maintains that level of soulfulness but in a more contemporary way. They are capable of creating good stage shows, so we’re curious to see how they approach the contest next year.

This was supposed to be Austria’s Eurovision 2020 entry
