NRK, the Norwegian national broadcaster, has announced the next act that will take part in Melodi Grand Prix 2012.
The latest MGP act to be announced, Håvard Lothe, are a band who have found success outside of Norway in China, and the band are named after lead singer and founder – Håvard Lothe! Their MGP has been written about the journey becoming a father and the ‘nine-month’ waiting period. The band’s vocalist Håvard Lothe wrote the song during the time he was looking forward to starting a family, and who hid the real-life secret, while the band worked on the song in the studio. “It was too early to tell it to anyone. But I carried some enormous feelings during the recording”, said Lothe to NRK.no.
The group are hopeful to gain more attention and fans within Norway, after their main success coming in China where they performed in front of 80,000 people. “To participate in such a big event, and get to share the stage with so many great artists, that will be an adventure”, says Lothe. Lothe choose to be realistic when it comes to the band’s future ambitions, but hope to acquire an even larger audience through the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix.
The Håvard Lothe Band become the 15th confirmed act for the upcoming MGP after the announcements of Lise Karlsnes, The Carburetors, Lisa Stokke, The Canoes, duo Yaseen Asher and Julie Maria Dahl, Rudi Myntevik, Kim André Rysstad, Marthe Valle, Monica Johansen, Plumbo, Nora Foss Al-Jabri, Isabel Ødegård, Malin and Irresistible.
Earlier this year Stella Mwangi represented Norway in Eurovision 2011 with ‘Haba Haba’ but was unable to qualify to the Eurovision Song Contest final.
