Norway: Nora Brockstedt has passed away

Nora Brockstedt, the first Norwegian participant at the Eurovision Song Contest passed away Thursday evening. Brockstedt participated for Norway in 1960 and 1961.

Participating twice at Eurovision and eleven times at Melodi Grand Prix, there are no doubts that Nora Brockstedt is leaving a great Eurovision legacy behind.

Her most memorable moment for many fans is probably when she introduced Norway to Eurovision audience in 1960, with the song “Voi Voi”. She finished in fourth place at the contest, and the song became a classic overnight in Norway.

The 1986 Eurovision host and 1966 Norwegian partcipant Åse Kleveland paid a tribute to Nora Brockstedt this evening, saying that an era of Norwegian pop is over.
