Norway: Orchestra returns for final on 14th of March

Norwegian broadcaster NRK has scheduled a spectacular final of Melodi Grand Prix on the 14th of March next year. To honor the 60th anniversary of Eurovision, a big orchestra will return on stage to accompany the artists in the Norwegian national final, to select their song for Vienna.

There will be ten candidates in the Grand Final in Spektrum, Oslo. These candidates may decide if they wish to use the orchestra and the extent to which they want to use it.

Melodi Grand PrixNot only is 2015 the 60th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest, for Norway it is also the 30th anniversary of their victory by Bobbysocks in 1985 and the 20th anniversary of Secret Garden’s grand victory in 1995.

Tickets will go on sale today on the 11th of November, but the names of the finalists won’t be made public until early next year.

Norway will take part in the semi-finals in order to qualify for the final of Eurovision, just like Carl Espen did this year. He ended up in 8th place with the song ‘Silent storm’.
